Jim Clarke's passion for Asian and Tribal cultures began with his academic interests in cultural anthropology and history. While traveling in Europe, South East Asia and Africa he began independent study of the cultures that fascinated him which led to acquiring art and artifacts, some of which he collected and others he sold to continue his travel and studies. Ginny Clarke's academic and professional experience developed her expertise in the world of fashion apparel, textiles and jewelry. Her interest in tribal garments, textiles and jewelry developed as she traveled and was a perfect compliment to Jims area of interest. This marriage of experience provided the foundation for the creation of Clarke and Clarke Asian Antiques and Tribal Art. The Clarkes love of travel and the pursuit of exciting art, textiles and jewelry in the communities that create them, provide the core of the ever changing inventory in their Galleries. Every object collected, whether in the field or from old established collections, is carefully researched and its authenticity fully guaranteed. In many cases tribal art is accompanied by field notes or research.
