Some of the red and yellow coloring applied over the mud layered on the wicker remains, more on the right side than the left. Remnants of the cassowary feather crown is also apparent. The mask is associated with initiation and the pig like Baba is said to help the souls of the deceased to find their way to the land of the spirits. H: 13", b: 10". Wicker, mud and pigment paint. |
