Persian Motif, lacquered copper jar
Classically Persian with Medallions that feature a young man and a young woman on opposite sides of the jar. The interval medallions are filled with flowering tendrils. The blue field is completely filled with flowering branches. The shoulder with a central band of script is flanked accent green bands. All of this attractive lacquer work is applied to a copper jar of traditional form. We are uncertain but, It is possibly that there may have been a lid. There is modest wear from use and age with a few small chipped areas but in overall good condition. The jar is 5 1/2" in height and 4 1/2 in diameter at the shoulder.
