From Ban Chiang, Nong Han District of Udon Thani Province, Northern Thailand, an early pottery jar that reflects the sophistication of the early Ban Chaing potters. With its refined neck, thin walls and balanced symmetry this jar is what many potters strive for.
Constructed with the paddle and anvil method it possibly dates to approximately 2000 BCE.
The neck and shoulder were originally painted red and the body decorated with a corded design.There are small rim losses, cracks and small holes that are possibly the result of age and burial.
