From the region of Chang'an now Xian and originally the terminus of he Silk Road. Possibly as early as the Wei Dynasty. An unusual low fired pottery stuppa tile, depicting a foreigner in a position of servitude. Many foreigners came up the Silk Road to trade and on seeing the wealth and splender of China's northern Capital, they stayed. It became a status symbol among China's wealthy to have foreign servants. The large nose and hair styles are the Chiinese artistic depiction of a foreigner. On a custom metal display stand.
