Favored by the Banoche of the western Punjab and also used by horse warriors from norther Afghanistan to Iran. An armor piercing war axe with a somewhat
parrot beak style blade. The blade and haft are of one piece and carved with inlay on the haft. There is an applied brass adornment at the elbow of the juncture with the haft. The hilt is made of a substantial piece of bone with a brass butt cap. The blade and haft are dark with age and some surface rust.
The style of this axe may have been inspired by the need to pierce the well crafted chain mail of the region.
Overall Length 14", blade 6".
