Japanese Screen with Ottoman theme
A scarce Meiji period Japanese folding screen with an Ottoman motif.
During the late 19th Century the Meiji Emperor and the Ottoman were attempting to develop
favorable relations which resulted in an Ottoman counselor legation visiting the Meiji Court in 1878 visit to the Meiji Court.
This screen is possibly the result of the ensuing visits and activities between the two nations
in that period.
A high quality sceen of excellent artistic merit. In excellent condition.
