Chinese Qing Dynasty, Mandarin of the fifth rank, Summer hat with storage basket. While the hats occasionally appear in the collector market, it is very rare to find both the hat and the original hat box. Based on condition, the hat has spent much of its life in the hat box The gold gilt, brass finial is topped with a crystal ball with red silk threads cascading down to surround the white exterior. The interior is complete and original.
