Antique Vietnamese, Standing Male Water Puppet
A very fine examp;e of a large male character in traditional garb. The arms are attached in such a way as to be animated but the mechanism is no longer operational. Puppeter Companies from this period travelev from one rural village to another and performed in rice paddies often filled with water. Any required epairs were made by the puppeters from available material.
As can be seen in the photos there is wear to the paint from use and age. The access port on the back shows soome minor loss. The puppet is 19 1/2" in height
