A beautiful, hand embroidered, Qing Dynasty banner. Possibly for an Alter or a Guild.
The embroidery features a full faced, five toed Dragon rising from the sea. The central image is shown against a red field and is surrounded by a border fo flowers with small animals at the corners. The black fabric border is loose and unstitched in some places. On the top back there is a small area of damage, ( as shown)
On the back, there is an old wax Jian Ding indicating that the banner is a certified and approved for export by the Guandong Cultural Relics Bureau #1 Guandong Province.
The banner is 34" x 35"
