A fine and rarely encountered, Japanese Tanegashima Pistol or Tantutu. The larger Tantutu were carried by mounted Samurai while these smaller pieces were possibly meant to be concealed.
A cannon muzzle, iron barrel is finely engraved in silver, depicting a writhing Dragon. The silvered brass barrel band and matchlock works are also finely engraved. The dark wood stock has minor losses at the barrel seat.6 1/2" overall, barrel 4", bore 3/16"
