A well carved, vintage Hannya Mask. The Hannya is a mask used in Japanese Noh Theater. It is characterized by two horns, metallic eyes and a leering mouth full oh large teeth.
In Noh playsthis mask represents a female consumed with jealousy, resentment tns anger, a woman on the edge of becoming a demoness.
Carved of wood with a lacquer finish and brass eyes.
