Silver Betel nut Lime Box & Spatula , 18th -19th C
This silver lime box with attached spatula was used to hold and carry lime that would be mixed with areca nut for betel chewing. The box is hinged and flips open to allow access. The style and pattern suggest that it eminates from the work shop that produced the Box on display at the Clive Collection Powis Castle, Wales.Documented to have been owned by Baron Clive of Piasey, ( Clive of India ) and is dated 1775.
