A one of a kind Divination sculpture associated with the Mbra cult, depicting a fight between a symbolic village hunter and Gberke a powerful Spirit who lives in the bush. The Gberke bush spirit is powered by the dark, animal part of the human sprit.
This sculpture would have been kept in seclusion by the village Diviner who tends and communicates tih the spirit thru offerings that can only be made in the bush. The Diviner's offerings are made with the intent to induce the Gberke to protect rather than destroy.
The piece is covered with the remains of years of offerings. The original bead work and detail remains. 13" IN LENGTH, 15" IN HEIGHT
